Did you know that 71% of the earth is covered by water?
This is a fact that probably most people know but never really take into consideration when speaking about deforestation and replanting trees. However, believe it or not, the majority of the oxygen we breathe comes from our oceans.
Yep, 90% of all carbon in the GLOBAL carbon cycle is stored in the ocean! This is where it should be sequestered to reverse climate change.
Known as the “rainforests of the sea,” coral reefs are the largest living structures on earth and support 25% of marine life. The conservation of these ecosystems is vital to coastal protection, scientific research, medication, fishing, eco-tourism, and more.
Our Visit to Sea Trees Coral Farms in Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia:
In May, we had an opportunity to visit the Sea Trees coral gardens in Nusa Penida and connect with their team. We got to see first hand, how coral restoration works and WHY it is important.
The Indonesian coral farmers are committed to caring for the coral gardens and maintaining the growth of the much needed coral supplements as well as planting new coral seedlings. This is a full time job and requires daily diving to care for the coral and their habitats.
It was an honor to give them each a pair of Indosole sandals as a token of appreciation for all they do. So, at the end of each work day, when the flippers come off their feet, a pair of Indosole’s will slip on and take them home to their families.

Sea Trees announced their first major milestone on earth day 2021 of reaching 1 Million SeaTrees planted + protected. Since then they have been on a mission to reach the next 1 million, as well as work towards their goal to support 100 blue-carbon projects in threatened coastal ecosystems by 2030, in turn becoming a global leader in developing blue carbon projects.
Here are other milestones achieved so far by Sea Trees’ efforts in Indonesia:
- 12,000 Coral Fragments Resorted in Nusa Pendia, Bali, Indonesia
- 25 local Indonesians are provided with sustainable employment
- Habitat created for 500+ marine species
- 25 local Indonesians are provided with sustainable employment
Now, we all have an opportunity to support Sea Trees in their efforts to keep working and fighting for our environment, we are so honored to partner with them and donate 20% of each sale towards Sea Trees and the replanting of our underwater forests.
